More capacity for the work that moves the business forward
The pace of change has outrun the way we work
Change has always been constant, but with the rate of change definitely increasing, I'm not sure the way we work is keeping up.
We have more information, options, tools, platforms and possible automations than ever before. On any given day, my questions as a business owner can range from "What is the first priority this morning?" to "Should I build an app for that… maybe?" — a question that definitely wouldn't have entered my head a few years ago.
I think the crux of it is that amidst all the options, we're seeking confirmation that everyone and everything is moving in the right direction, and that we're working on the right priorities to actually move the business forward. That can feel like a job in itself. The issue is that the way we're still working hasn't caught up to the advancing rate of change we're facing as business owners.
Why we created Built for Change
That's why we created Built for Change. We support business owners and their teams to:
Create practical ways of working that fit the new technologies available
Navigate the constant change we're experiencing
Decide what matters, and adapt when things change
Ultimately, keep moving the business forward
What we help you create
Our role in Built for Change isn't to hand you a pre-prepared plan. You know your business best. Instead, we support you to create the best possible way of working for your business and your team, now.
We guide you through key areas using a solid framework, but you do the work of creating something that works for you:
A decision guide to identify the work that really matters to you
A repeatable system to review what's working
A way to adapt when things need to change
The aim is a clear system that reduces the friction in deciding what the priority is each day, and lets you adjust when needed.
How we work together at Built for Change
Lori and I have different but complementary skills. My focus is on the people, the leadership, the team dynamics, and the strengths in all those areas. Lori brings the systems and analysis lens, to make sure the changes and decisions we land on translate into something you can actually use, practically, to keep the day-to-day running smoothly.
What we can't change is that running a successful business means wearing many hats and making multiple decisions every day. What we offer instead is support in creating a new way of working that makes those decisions easier, and leaves you freer to do the work that matters most.
